This temple is important because it is the representation of Akasha (Space) of the 5 elements of the nature. One of the unexplained mysteries of this temple is the Chidambaram Rahasyam, a concealed portion located behind the curtain that is said to represent the presence of the Lord Shiva in a formless manner. An imposing Dravidian-style structure, the temple features soaring gopurams (towers) and a golden-roofed sanctum.

Nagaraja Swamy Temple
This temple is located in Nagercoil in Tamil Nadu, and is a temple dedicated to Lord Nagaraja, the serpent god. It is considered an important temple for serpent worship and is supposed to cure snake doshas (astrolgical defects). The temple’s architecture, a beautiful mix of Kerala and Tamil, is characterized by intricate serpent sculptures.
Naga Panchami, a festival celebrated by paying prayers to prevent serpent related issues are among the most auspicious days here, and offered a variety of prayers to Lord Shiva.
